The temperature reads three dashes "- - -"

When the temperature sensor is unplugged, Vector assumes it will not be plugged back in and saves battery power by not checking. After plugging the temperature sensor in, you need to tell Vector by performing a two-button trip data reset (press the left and center buttons.) Alternatively, press the red reset button on the back of Vector.

Vector computer stops working after washing the machine, then begins working again after awhile.

The small connectors on Vector are high quality and waterproof. However, the wire size is very fine and it is possible for water to wick inside. Although there should be no lasting effects (they will dry out again and work ok), one can guard against this by applying a small amount of silicon where the wires enter the connectors.
