Model-Specific X2 Kits:
Model-Specific X2 kits are plug-and-play and take into account your bike's electrical system. Models that need it come with customized wire harness and switch. X2's brightness punches through darkness to create an enjoyable night-time ride experience. Kits arrive with accessories custom to your models needs. Some models also need improved electrical components such as a high output stator or adjustable AC regulator.
X2 Model-Specific kits are plug-and-play. No cutting or splicing of wires required. The back of X2 is customized with the same connector your model bike uses. Available in dual-sport halogen, off-road halogen and off-road HID. X2 is compact and self-contained with no pieces protruding in the back or light-leaks. There is an integrated cable guide to help keep the lines from rubbing. The model-specific instructions were written with your model in mind.
Some models require high-output stator, as noted. Halogen lights can be used on most machines with a stock light and AC or DC power. HID lights require more power only a few machines can produce; most require the stator upgrade.
Most Model-Specific X2 kits come with a custom wire harness that includes a switch. The switch is set to utilize your model's electrical system to the best of its ability; some models can run both lights at the same time, but some can only run the high or low beam. If your bike did not come stock with a switch, one is included in the model-specific kit; either a 2- or 3-position switch. For most models, when the switch is set to low the upper 2" lamp's spot beam turns on to illuminate the area ahead (the 4" flood lamp is more blinding because of its spread.) On high both lamps ignite to illuminate both near and distant terrain.
HID lights are extremely bright, they create daylight conditions and bright blue-white light. HID will allow the same speed track times as during the day. Halogen off-road lights are also very bright, but cannot quite match HID's effectiveness. Halogen produces a warm yellow incandescent light. Halogen Dual-Sport lights offer a clipped beam that is less offensive to oncoming drivers (its lamps meet DOT requirements for on-road use.) Dual-Sport clipped beams are aimed closer to the road that off-road versions; they are less likely to blind oncoming traffic.
HID off-road and halogen off-road light kits are compatible with the accessory rock guard cover (sold separately.) The rock guard is not necessary unless heavy gravel roosts are expected (the glass lamp optics are extremely durable.) Dual-sport X2 is not compatible with the rock guard.
Trail Tech now offers an improved AC regulator. The regulator has a potentiometer that can dial-a-brightness for halogen lights. At maximum setting, the halogen light will near HID's lumens but only last a few hours before burning out (good for racing.) At the minimum setting, the light will be a little dim but last a very long time.
